ID Scanners, Fake IDs and Sting Operations
Posted By admin on February 19, 2011
Can the Police use a Fake ID when performing an undercover sting operation in my liquor store? The short answer is no. If the police use a fake ID, then its called entrapment. Law enforcement cannot break the law in an attempt to catch you breaking the law (serving a minor). An ID Scanner will help prevent serving a minor when during a sting operation when the ID presented is valid and indicates the person is underage. If the agents use a Fake or False ID, then the ID Scanner will document that fact and the merchant will have proof that a Fake ID was used during a sting operation. Its hard for the police to build a case when there is proof that they violated the law themselves.
